Anna Mudeka , finalist “Inspirational Business Mum Award 2008” built her business in the performing arts, as a dancer, singer and master musician of both djembe and Mbira, bringing the sounds and sights of her native Zimbabwe to audiences of all ages throughout the UK and
Europe .
Her business incorporates: Tambai Promotions, formed in 2002 to inform and educate audiences of all ages in African music, dance and culture. Tambai’s clients include educational establishments, special needs, universities, festivals, coporate and community groups. Our workshops and performances use Drums, costumes, props, and displays of African crafts. Annually for the past 5 years we have organised highly successful local and international educational projects including (eg. Work with WOMAD in and and MOD in )
Anna Mudeka has been a professional singer, dancer and drummer since the age of 14. She has toured Japan with the late Ephat Mujuru and was also a member of Thomas Mapfumo's Blacks Unlimited. She has worked and performed with other well-known musicians including Leon Ruselsson and Stella Chiweshe, the Queen of Mbira. Since coming to the UK in 1995, Anna has continued to perform both traditional and original modern Zimbabwean music. She tours nationally and internationally with The Tambai Ensemble, runs workshops and gives solo performances based around Mbira. To date Anna has recorded five CD albums: Chirungu, Rwendo Nevadzimu, Cham'tengure and Hamunyare and the latest one Zvachose - see the CD Music link above for more details.
Performances include: Womad Reading 2003; The Greatest Drummer in the World theatre piece, 2003; BBC Radio 3, World on your street, 2003; Womad Caceres, Spain, 2004; La Strada Festival, Graz, Austria 2004; Womad Singapore 2005; Vodice Jazz Festival, Croatia 2005.

Tambai Promotions works with a number of local artists including Samia Malik (Indian music and songwriting), Jose Ferrera Mulen (Cuban music and dance), Teddy Akrofi (Storytelling and aspects of Ghana), Jim Lynch (Capoeira) and Anne Tirburtius (Indian music, dance and storytelling) All artists are professional teachers and have experience in teaching all ages and abilities, including special needs, young children and the elderly. All workshops and performances can be tailored to suit any age group and ability.
