African Music and Dance and Storytelling
Anna Mudeka's workshops and performances involve a lot of audience participation within a relaxed atmosphere. It's an enjoyable experience for everyone who takes part no matter what the age group and will leave you with a memorable journey through Africa.
Workshops
Anna developed Tambai's educational programme work to link into the national curriculum, and focuses on rasing awareness of cultural diversity through the arts.
Anna runs workshops in schools; festivals and various venues and workshops are tailor made to suit any age group and ability. Drumming rhythms are mainly from the southern African region and West Africa. The rhythms are an accompaniment for dances and once the students have learned a pattern Anna then demonstrates the dance.
Capoiera
Workshops
"Learn Capoeira UK" have been taking Capoeira into schools on "multi-cultural days" in the form of workshops, demonstrations, seminars and follow-up projects, with great success.
It is primarily a fun activity, and can be very effective in improving self-esteem and creativity, as well as exploring aspects of dance, music and other forms of self-expression. Capoeira has in fact started to appear within the National Curriculum as a Key Stage Three dance module and is currently being adopted into the specialist sports colleges around England. It is a versatile activity that appeals to young people and really works with hard-to-reach sectors of our society e.g. children with disabilities/learning difficulties or problems at home and teenagers in general!
